How it could look
Little late on my part, but happy MR2sday! Which looks better, nice wheels and an
ehh
paint job or black-painted stock wheels and a
not bad
paint job? I’ve decided on a paint color but it’ll be a surprise...
Current state of the factory alloys:
How it looks
Or should I chrome them?

paint a squigly, like off of a jet engine, so that it looks cool while you are cruising down the road....... or white. white would be a good color too........

That render looks taller than mine. I still haven’t decided if I want to lower mine or lift it for rallycross.
Half the people in my school’s car club run RPF1s. Maybe I just accept the peer pressure and make my car look better...

I’ll get a second set of center caps for the wheels, with squigglies painted on. If I need to adjust the car for flight mode then I take off the plain black ones and put on the plane squiggly ones. At all other times, it’s a sleeper flying car!

That’s got potential too. I’ll have to compare the look once I get the rest of the car painted.

black wheels with a ‘not bad’ paintjob very quickly become black wheels with a shit paintjob.
Only do black if it’s done properly.

My useless 2¢: My favorite use of R32 GTR wheels is on an MR2.
But R32 and R33 GTR wheels make a lot of things nicer.

With that color of MR2, I’d give the wheels a fresh coat of silver. Perhaps a shade or two darker than stock.

Stock alloys painted black with chrome lugs is the way to go.

Don’t these have staggered-diameter wheels?
It looks like your car is currently teal. I cannot in good conscience recommend changing this.

All the wheels are the same dimensions on mine, might be different for Turbo models though.
The factory color is “Nautical Blue” with a matching interior. The coat is in pretty bad condition though, I dropped it off today for a fresh paint job. I’m not sure if you’d approve of the color I chose though... I’ll make a separate post on Oppo with the color when I get it back.
